BYUH WORKSTATIONS STANDARDS
END OF LIFE OPERATING SYSTEMS
When the manufacturer no longer supports software, it reaches its ‘end of life.’ This standard refers to how we handle operating system software like older versions of Windows or Apple OS when the manufacturer no longer supports it. If we have any system that is no longer supported or is reaching its end of life soon, we must remove the software or upgrade to a supported version.

WORKSTATION SOFTWARE
All software on your workstation(s) must be patched monthly to ensure it is running safely. Often the software can be set to update automatically. If the software can no longer be patched or is at the end-of-life, it must be removed/uninstalled.

ENDPOINT PROTECTION SOFTWARE
Our current endpoint protection software is called CrowdStrike Falcon. It protects and alerts us on potential malicious computer activity within our organization. This software is to be installed and running on all university owned workstations. It is the required anti-virus and security software for our university. Do not disable or uninstall Falcon.
