Apply for a ChatGPT License

As of February 2025, ChatGPT Edu is available to eligible CES faculty and staff at BYU, BYU–Idaho, BYU–Hawaii, BYU-Pathway, and Ensign College through an enterprise agreement with OpenAI. It is not available to students.

ChatGPT Edu supports CES institutions in academic and operational goals. Licenses are shared across CES institutions, and approval depends on availability.

Refer to the ChatGPT Edu Data Guidelines page to learn more about what data is allowed or restricted in the CES ChatGPT Edu platform.

To apply for a ChatGPT Edu license, complete the License Registration form with your institution net ID or username and a brief description of your intended use and data type. You should receive a response within three business days.
