Obtaining a ChatGpt EDU License
ChatGPT Edu through the Church Educational System (CES) is now available to BYU–Hawaii students, faculty, and staff.
Getting Started
Students, faculty, and staff have received an automated email from OpenAI ChatGPT Edu inviting them to the CES OpenAI workspace. This is a legitimate email associated with each user's access.
- Click the link in the invitation email.
- Select “Church Educational System Login” to access ChatGPT Edu.
ChatGPT Edu is available today with access to features that do not require credits. Monthly credits for advanced capabilities are not included at this time.
More capabilities, training, and resources are coming as services continue to expand.
Important Note for Users with Personal Accounts
Users may already have a personal ChatGPT account using their @byuh.edu email address. Accepting the CES workspace invitation may affect access to their existing personal ChatGPT history. Before accepting the invitation, these users should review and save or export any conversations they want to retain. Learn how to export your ChatGPT history and data in the OpenAI Help Center.
Students Using ChatGPT Edu
As students begin using ChatGPT Edu, they should continue to follow their instructors’ guidance and BYU–Hawaii expectations regarding appropriate AI use in their coursework.
Faculty and Staff Using ChatGPT Edu
The Office of Information Technology encourages faculty and staff to explore how ChatGPT Edu can support their work. Additional training and guidance on effective and appropriate use will be available soon.
