Overview

BYUH is replacing its outdated phone system starting Spring 2025 with a new cloud-based system called RingCentral to better meet the needs of today’s flexible working environment. This transition will impact anyone currently using a BYUH-provided phone number.

  • You can download RingCentral for your desktop or laptop computer from their official website. You can also download it on your iOS or Android phone.

  • Yes, you can download RingCentral on both iOS and Android phones and other mobile devices.

  • Yes, RingCentral can be accessed anywhere you have an internet connection.

  • Yes, there is an online course called RingEx Live Training available on RingCentral's official website. You may also refer to the videos below.

  • Yes, all 675 numbers will have the ability to SMS text. Group texts can be created with up to 10 users. Your RingCentral line can text any phone number (not just BYUH numbers).

  • Our primary focus is soft phones first, but there are some instances where we will place physical handsets. In these cases, we use Poly phones, primarily the VXX250.

  • Calls are kept on the call log for 1 year.

  • Name search will work both in the BYUH global directory as well as personal contact lists. When you search for someone, their name and phone number come through.

  • If you download the RingCentral app on your phone, you can have calls ring through the app or you can forward your calls to your personal number so they will ring like any other call.

  • Sound quality is based on a number of factors (like your network connection and device), but for the most part, it is very clear and reliable.

  • Yes, you can dial 5-XXXX extensions.

  • Yes, but we will transition to soft phones (RingCentral App). The Cisco phone will go away eventually.

  • You can determine your status by changing it through the tool located under your profile picture in the RingCentral app.
